Once upon a time me and my dad went to a woodworking show. (In case some of you don't know what that is; it is a place for woodworkers and business men to sell their tools.) So we were at the woodworking show and at the very end I saw something that interested me. I looked over and there I saw something I had never seen before. It was a lathe [a power tool to turn items out of different materials] and on that lathe I saw a block of wood that was a partially turned pen. I asked my dad if we could go over there and he said "sure." When we spoke to the man who was standing over at the turning booth he asked if I would like to turn a pen. Well I turned my very first pen (with some help of course) and it look pretty good. Afterwards the guy said that the pens that everyone made that day were going to the soldiers in Iraq, but the man let me keep my pen and I was SOOOOOOOOO excited. Later at home everyone marveled at the pen I had turned. Well 2 months later we went to Woodcraft (a woodworking store) where I saw a lathe for sale. I really wanted to buy it. So to make a long story short, we bought it! (and a little beginners pack with all the things we needed to turn many items) Later I was anxious to turn my second pen on my very own lathe (and it turned out GREAT).
So overall I am so thankful that my dad (knowing that I loved turning that pen) bought the lathe for me. I also know that I have the BEST dad in the whole world and I want him to know I love him sooooooooooooooooo much! And I thank my whole family for being my GREATEST fans and supporting me!
